About Me

Welcome to...
The Very Pink Notebook is a blog for all things bookish and has been developed by and is maintained by me, Lynsey, book addict.
For as long as I can remember I have been an avid reader and lover of books.  My favourite place to visit as a child was the library and luckily my parents happily indulged me, even if it did mean I brought the same titles home again and again.
These days I still love the library, I also can't pass by a bookstore without a little look (and undoubtedly a purchase.)  Equally I get a flutter of excitement if a book shaped parcel looks like it is coming to the door too.
Even with a rather chaotic household - I live in a house full of boys, one with severe physical disabilities - I always manage to keep a book on the go, at the very least sneaking in fifteen minutes of reading time while the dinner cooks (and yes, dinner has been known to burn if the book is that good...)  Thankfully, as the youngest has reached the grand old age of five, I have gradually found I can have my nose stuck in a book, or time to write, a little more often.  As such I have found a wonderful community to be a part of.  It feels amazing to finally have the time to discover the literary world and what a wonderful experience it is.
This blog is to serve several purposes.  I love any opportunity to write.  Anything.  It will also help me keep track of what I have read.  More often than not I have purchased a book, only to realise I have already read it on my Kindle.  Also, I think it is wonderful closure to write a review and love to think that in someway, by doing so, I have helped an author.
Having just completed the first draft of a novel I truly am beginning to understand the time, effort, love, sweat and tears that go into writing a book.  It has made me realise, a book needs its readers and if I can help by spreading the word, for someone that has made the long journey to publication, then I want to do just that.
I hope you enjoy the thoughts from The Very Pink Notebook, and if any of my posts encourage you to read in any way, then I will be a very happy blogger.  And believe me, if I can find five minutes to read, even just a page, then anyone can.  If you really, really want to.
(I also write a blog focusing on the challenges and rewards of caring for a child with disabilities.  The aim of that blog is to help raise awareness of the day to day struggles a family faces, that, unless you have experience of disability, you will be blissfully unaware of.  It can be visited at Lynsey The Mother Duck.)
